Do you want to become a âMinority Messengerâ?
The Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) is looking for participants for our Kick-Off training âMessage
in the bottleâ.
The event will take place in Trin, Switzerland, hosted by âGiuRu â Giuventetgna Rumantschaâ â the Romansh youth, co-organized with YEN and supported by the European Youth Foundation. The Romansh minority lives in the Alp mountains in the east of Switzerland in the region Graubünden. Their language, Romansh, is one of the four official languages in Switzerland and has around 60.000 speakers. It is an old language descending from Latin. Romansh is divided in five dialects, which all are being written and taught in school. The media landscape is of big importance for sustaining the language. Right after the Kick-Off there will be a referendum on the future of the national and local TV and radio. Therefore, we will be in Romanshia in an exciting political time and can give our support to GiuRu. #NotonoBillag / #NeinzuNo-Billag!
If you are interested to participate, please contact your responsible person for YEN-events of your organization that has to fill in the application form at our homepage:
About the training:
In 2018 we want to open a new chapter of European minority youth work. We want to strengthen the impact of minorities on local level and therefore we developed the idea of minority messengers. A minority messenger is a person that spreads the message of minorities in his/her region in Europe to other minorities or the majority. We will give the minority messengers toolkits to help them on theirmissions. If we manage to develop a network of minority messengers all over Europe, we can have a huge impact together! Therefore, we start with a training to develop the whole project. It is called a training, but not in a physical sense! We will train your leading and communication skills, introduce you to non-formal education methods and improve your workshop training skills. In the second step we will develop the toolkits for the minority messenger missions together. The toolkit will be, in a symbolic sense, the message in the bottle that minority messengers take on their missions. At the end of the training you will be able to train YEN minority messengers later during e.g. the Easter seminar.
The training will deal with:
1. What is intercultural learning and non-formal education?
2. How can you improve your communication, presentation and evaluation skills?
3. What tools do you need to become a minority messenger?
4. How can you motivate and support others to become minority messengers?
5. How can you design an own workshop session for the minority messenger project?
