The next EU long-term budget is being negotiated right now, and Erasmus+ must not become a casualty of it. Together with the Erasmus+ Coalition, 88 EU-level organisations representing over 6,200 member organisations, we are calling on national Finance and Foreign/European Affairs Ministers to keep Erasmus+ at a minimum of €47.4 billion. The programme accounts for only 2% of the EU budget, yet every euro invested returns tenfold. For minority youth, it funds the youth exchanges, seminars and non-formal education that connect our communities across borders and bring local voices into European democratic life.
Decisions on the EU budget are shaped in national capitals, so this is where you can make a difference. Below you’ll find the joint letter by the European Youth Forum and the Lifelong Learning Platform, along with a ready-to-use email template. Adapt the template to your organisation and your country, attach the letter, and send it to your national Ministers of Finance and of Foreign or European Affairs. Two minutes of your time can help protect the programme that made so much of our work possible.
