Aromanian National Day in Bucharest

Delegates from the subsidiaries of The Armăn Community from Romania went to Bucharest on 23rd of May 2009 to celebrate “The Armăns’ National Day” under the slogan ”Enough! Respect our wish!”. People came from all over Romania to celebrate and also to express their support for The Armăn Community aims.

The celebration started with the extraordinary General Assembly of The Armăn Community from Romania , at the Parliament Palace – Alexandru Ioan Cuza Hall. A Resolution was adopted on this occasion by which The Armăn Community from Romania :
- Reaffirmed its decision to undertake all the necessary actions so that the Armăns obtain all the rights specific to the national minorities;
- Asked for strengthening the cooperation & dialogue between Armăns’ representatively organizations and government authorities dealing with human rights & specific rights for the persons belonging to the national minorities;
- Decided to continue the actions & steps initiated until now in order to affirm, preserve and promote Armăns’ culture, language and traditions.

Representatives of Armăns from abroad ( France , Greece , USA ) as well as official guests from different institutions/organizations (FUEN, People’s Advocate, Republic of Macedonia Embassy , Albania Embassy, Agerpres, Municipal Council, Hungary Embassy) attended the event.

The event continued in the Herastrau Park with an Armăn show. Different groups of kids from all our organization subsidiaries, as well as well-known Armăn singers and dancers from Romania performed for this event.

The activities were closed by a impressive choir - specific to the Armăn community – bringing together almost all participants (around 2500 people).

The whole event was organized with the great support of “The Youth Armăn Council”.
