Easter Seminar 2010 - „Living Minorities - Models of Diversity“

The Easter Seminar 2010 is approaching and the preparations are already in progress. The seminar will be organised by the Vlach Youth Council of Macedonia and Youth of European Nationalities. It will take place in the beautiful South West part of the Republic of Macedonia in Ohrid on 27th March - 2nd April 2010.

Beautiful and good seminars have taken place during the last 25 years. Though those seminars wear great and a lot of topics have been discussed, the concrete skills have not always been passed on.

One of the goals of YEN should be to teach young people about leadership. It is important that young people are leading workshops, working groups, an organisation and more basic needs in an organisation like YEN and the member organisations. Leadership skills are not only important for young people now, but are necessary wherever you are.

The main objective of the seminar is introducing the participants to the specific features of the minorities at the Balkans as a whole. The seminar “Living Minorities – Models of Diversity” will therefore focus on two main themes: 1) Leadership skills and sustainability of minority youth organizations, and 2) Situation of the minorities of/in the Balkans. The projected study trips to Krushevo and Moskopole are a unique opportunity, which will demonstrate/illustrate the traditional Balkan style multicultural society and history and societal situation of the Vlach culture. The seminar represents a unique opportunity to establish a network of contacts between different actors of distinct nationalities that share similar interests.

Furthermore, the seminar will create the framework for: exchange of experience among the participants; the creation of networks of partners and the development of local development strategies, coherent with European objectives; the enhancement of capacities for elaborating projects that cope with the necessities of the participating countries and the requirements of the European institutions.

Further information will follow soon.
