Baconcake – Krivekucha

Yeast dough
1 Egg
Salt
Bacon

Cut the bacon in cubes and whisk the egg. Grease a baking tray and lay the yeast dough on top and cover it with the whisked egg. Spread the bacon cubes on top and bake it in the oven for 15-20 min.

Risarski doručak – Mowers’ breakfast

Mowers were men who mowed wheat by hand. They had to get up early in the morning while it
was still dark, in order to get to the field and start working before it gets too warm.
Even though they didn't have much time to eat, they needed to eat heavy food for the exhausting
work. So for breakfast, they would bring bacon, onion, tomato, sour milk, and homemade bread,
and would take water from the wells.
Bunjevacs – Croats in North Serbia – had a habit to take a small pocket knife with them
everywhere. They would have breakfast in the fields, without a table or chairs, and they would
take the bread, onion, tomato and bacon in the left hand, and the knife in the other. They would
flip their left hand to cut slices of each of the ingredients and eat them. With this mowers’
breakfast, the mowers could eat healthy and calorific food and be able to do the heavy labour in
the fields.
